Sydney is a 24-hour city. You can be at the beach at 6am or partying until 2am. There’s no better time to visit than after dark, when the city comes alive with lights and sounds. Here are some of our favourite things to do after dark:

The Ivy Sydney

The Ivy Sydney is one of Sydney’s most iconic restaurants, with an extensive menu that includes everything from breakfast through to dessert. It’s also one of the best places for a late night drink, with regular DJs and live music performances throughout the week. You can visit their website for more details about their upcoming events.

Go on a harbour cruise

One of the best ways to see Sydney’s spectacular skyline at night is on a harbour cruise. You’ll see the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay, Luna Park and more, with commentary from your guide or captain. Some boats even have dance floors for a bit of fun after dark!

Take in a show at Sydney Opera House or State Theatre

The Sydney Opera House is one of Australia’s most iconic landmarks and it’s worth taking some time out from your sightseeing schedule to enjoy this famous building. It has been voted as one of the top 10 tourist attractions in Australia by TripAdvisor users and with good reason! The venue hosts everything from classical music concerts to comedy shows, so there’s something for everyone here.

Eat dinner at a rooftop bar

There are plenty of fantastic rooftop bars in Sydney, with incredible views over the city’s skyline and harbour. One of the best ways to start an evening is by enjoying a few drinks at one of these bars. You’ll get stunning views over the city and harbour, as well as great food and drinks options.

Walk through Chinatown after dark

Chinatown is one of the most vibrant areas in the city. It’s a great place to go out with friends or meet new people, but it’s also good for some quiet time alone. The streets are filled with food vendors, street performers and small shops selling everything from silk flowers to incense. This is a great place to take photos at night because there are so many interesting things to look at.

Go on a pub crawl

A lot of people visit Sydney and never make it past Kings Cross or Darlinghurst. But there are plenty of other areas that are worth exploring and if you want to see what they’re like, then try out one of the many pub crawls that take place every week. These tours take you from one bar to another, allowing you to sample some great drinks along the way. It’s also a great way to meet other people who are interested in similar things as yourself and if you’re lucky enough, maybe even find someone who lives locally too!

Go to a party

Sydney has an array of great parties that take place every night of the week. If you’re looking for something different, check out our guide on how to find the best parties in Sydney or have a look at some of these options:

If you’re in town on Friday or Saturday night, head down Oxford Street in Paddington – it’s packed with bars and clubs that have live music or DJs playing all night long. On Fridays there are often free drinks before midnight as well! If you want something a little more exciting and intimate, be sure to check out some of the best Sydney brothels while you’re there!

Try some street art (and graffiti)

One of the best things about Sydney is its thriving street art scene. The city is home to some of Australia’s most famous public artworks, and you can try your hand at creating your own masterpiece.

Sydney’s most famous graffiti artist is Daim, who has decorated many walls around the city with his distinctive style. He’s created an awesome guide to his favourite spots for graffiti-lovers, including the Bondi Beach rock pool and Clovelly Park.

If you’re looking for something more traditional, check out the National Art School in Paddington. This free school offers classes in painting, sculpture and film making — with a focus on experimental methods and new media technologies.

Take a walk through Darling Harbour

This area has undergone a massive transformation over the past few years and now hosts some great restaurants, bars and clubs which make it a great place to spend an evening after dark. The area has also become home to some pretty cool street art murals so keep an eye out for them as you wander around looking for somewhere nice to eat or drink.

Sydney is a city that never sleeps. It’s a place where the sun sets late and rises early, and nightlife is always going on somewhere.
