Habits That Can Be Harmful To Your Window Tints

What can harm your window tints? Window tints are films that are applied to the glass surface before it is installed. It can either be plastic, or glass and polymer, or even paper. These tints can give you a very attractive window treatment, but there are some drawbacks as well.

Tints that contain water can damage your glass quite a bit. Water attracts moisture, and it is this attraction that can lead to damage. The film will sometimes also become very thick, leading to reduced view and glare. This problem is easily solved by wiping the film off regularly. If not wiped off entirely, the film can eventually crack, and these cracks allow some water into the glass.

When you get the tints put on, you will find that they are placed on the glass by means of a special type of adhesive. There are two different adhesives that you can use, and both are very effective, so long as the tints do not damage the glass when they are in place. It is important to make sure that the adhesive is very well blended with the glass, otherwise, you might end up with streaks. The blurring of the tint may take some time, so do not panic if this happens.

Some of the other things that can harm your window tints include the sun, wind, and rain. The tints can become brittle when exposed to sunlight, and this could cause them to break. When the wind blows at the right speed, it can also cause the tints to become unstable and fall. This can happen outside, as well as inside.

You might think that rain is a no-no, but in fact, it can have the same effect on the tint. Rainwater is very wet and will therefore be able to seep into the glass and damage it. However, this is usually only a problem when the glass has been wet for a while. If it has just fallen, then you will have nothing to worry about. The only exception would be if the water was just plain water from a hose.
