CBD Tincture: What You Need To Know
CBD (Cannabidiol) is a chemical compound in the Cannabis Sativa L plant that is typically found in cannabis and hemp plants. CBD does not contain THC, which means it has no psychoactive effects. CBD oil tinctures that work effectively can be taken orally or applied topically and is commonly used for its therapeutic benefits. The most well-known use of CBD products are for anxiety, insomnia, inflammation, pain relief, among others.
Defining CBD
CBD is one of many cannabinoids found naturally in the hemp plant. Industrial and scientific research have proven that CBD can be used for various conditions: stress, pain, inflammation, appetite, etc. However, it’s important to understand that marijuana and hemp plants contain many other cannabinoids and terpenes too. We discuss more about the different cannabinoids and their benefits in another article. In this article we will focus on the most well-known chemical compound CBD.
So How Does It Work?
The human body produces its own cannabinoids known as endocannabinoids – natural compounds that support most of our body’s functions. They are responsible for regulating many bodily functions, including appetite, sleep, pain sensation, among others. CBD is a phytocannabinoid that can be extracted from the cannabis plant. There are dozens of cannabinoids and terpenes found in different strains of cannabis and hemp plants. CBD is usually found in higher amounts than the other compounds, but other cannabinoids may occur together with it as well.
CBD Is a Natural Medicine
Every type of cannabinoid in the cannabis plant has its own properties, which means there are many different benefits associated with each one. For instance, a THC dominant strain of cannabis flower provides psychoactive effects, while a CBD dominant strain will provide more calming and soothing sensations. Moreover, the other cannabinoids found in various cannabis strains may provide additional therapeutic benefits such as pain relief, stress relief, sleep aid, etc. These compounds work synergistically to produce their effects. In addition, hemp seeds and hemp oil have many health benefits as well.
CBD is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in industrial and medical grade hemp plants with little to no THC or psychoactive properties. However, it contains terpenes which have anti-inflammatory properties just like THC & CBG does.
